What I’m Looking For:
This September, I’m on the lookout for purple and white transferware, also known as amethyst transferware. I’m hoping to add a few more unique pieces to go with the vintage purple pitcher I found while antiquing in Nova Scotia this past summer, my first-ever find in this rare colorway. The rich, romantic tones are perfect for fall vintage table settings.

How I’ll Style It:
I plan to create a purple and white fall tablescape using that purple and white transferware pitcher as my centerpiece. Just today, I picked up a stunning amethyst glass pitcher that will pair beautifully with it. Styled together on a dark wood table on our porch, I’ll layer in amethyst glassware, purple mums or asters, and maybe even a few sunflowers for a pop of seasonal contrast. I like to keep Halloween light, playful, and full of character, just enough to blend into our cozy fall home without taking over. Think vintage mannequins in witch hats, thrifted skeletons tucked onto the porch, a faux bakery centerpiece that tricks more than it treats, and moody candlelight layered into our table settings.

These Halloween touches still feel warm, inviting, and totally in sync with our fall color palette. It’s spooky styling with a vintage twist, and proof you don’t need flashing lights or inflatable ghouls to have a little fun with Halloween decor.

Why Vintage Vintage Vintage? Why it Feels Vermont and Feels You

If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll notice a theme: I spend a lot of time decorating our porch, layering cozy corners by the fire pit, and styling vintage moments that feel just as lived-in as they do lovely. That’s because fall in Vermont is all about embracing the outdoors while we still can, before the snow settles in and we trade Adirondack chairs for wool blankets and ski boots.

It’s the season of porches, pellet stoves, picnic baskets, and late afternoons spent chasing golden light. And all those cozy outdoor layers? They don’t disappear when fall ends, they come right inside with us. Vintage blankets, Johnson Brothers china, heirloom quilts, old ski lodge snowshoes, they all inspire how I transition our home for winter.
